RoboCup 2024
Netherlands hosts World Cup
Positive buzz in Brainport area
Robotics World Cup comes to Eindhoven again
The robotics world championships are back in Eindhoven. After the successful 2013 edition, TU/e has again been chosen to host the global event for autonomous robots. RoboCup 2024 will take place from 17 to 21 July at Genneper Parken in Eindhoven. The organisers have set themselves the goal of making full use of the venue's capacity, accommodating an impressive 50,000 visitors over five days. An ambitious goal, which Capital Sports says is certainly not unachievable. As in 2013, the sports marketing agency is involved as a partner of RoboCup, supporting the organisation in terms of promotion, communication and with boosting ticket sales.
Development of robotic technology
The focus is on maximising attendance and generating positive buzz within the Brainport area, but ultimately the global robotics event serves a higher purpose. RoboCup's mission is to accelerate the development of affordable and reliable robot technology. "By 2025, our football robots should be able to beat human world champions." Collaboration between participating researchers is therefore crucial. After the event, all hardware and software knowledge will be shared, so all participants work from the same point again towards the next edition. This working method boosts developments in the field of robotics.
Seventeen leagues in five categories
Around 3,000 participants from 45 countries are expected to send their robots into the arena. They will do so across 17 leagues in five categories: Soccer, Rescue, @Home, Junior and Industrial. Eindhoven is represented with multiple world champion Tech United (TU/e). In addition, RIF and RoboHub (both Fontys), Robot Sports (VDL) and Falcons (ASML) will also take part in RoboCup 2024.
Campaign 2.0
RoboCup and Capital Sports are working closely together to achieve the set goals. Everything is being pulled out to sell as many tickets to the event as possible and generate positive buzz. Mascot Robin, whose 2013 version has been beautifully updated by illustrator Eline van de Molengraft, will appear on billboards, bus shelters, flyers, posters and (social media) ads in and around Eindhoven in the summer of 2024. A campaign 2.0, because not only the robots have developed significantly compared to the previous edition. With up-to-date knowledge and the experience of 2013 in their pockets, RoboCup and Capital Sports are putting everything in place to make edition 2024 the most successful yet.
